1. I am sending home the financial literacy passport on Monday. Please read through the parent letter and do an at-home activity with your child. Then fill out the passport and return to school by February 20, 2013.

January 22-25, 2013
1. This will be a review week in Reading. Students will take a reading benchmark test on Monday and Tuesday. The spelling and vocabulary words for the week are all review words.
2. Please make sure you are sending your kids to school with proper dress code. The main things they need are a collared shirt (or turtle neck) with no logos.
3. Thank you again to all of the volunteers that come into our class and help out. If you would like to volunteer you can either contact Jacque Jeppsen ( [email protected]) or myself ([email protected] or [email protected])
4. Recess- Because of the cold temps we have had indoor recess quite a bit. If anyone has old board games or card games that their family doesn't use anymore and would like to donate to the class we would love to have them.

1. Book Projects will be due this Friday (1-11). The students can either do a star, which is the same project they have done in the past or they can choose to present their book in a different way.

2. The 3rd graders should be reading 15-20 minutes each night. If they meet their goal, they will earn a Pizza Hut Book It certifcate. I will be handing those out this week, so be on the lookout for them.

1. This is our last week before Winter Break. I hope everyone has a happy, healthy, and safe break.
2. We will be taking out chapter 6 math test on Wednesday.
3. Our holiday party will be on Friday, the kids know that in order to participate in the holiday celebration they need to have ALL of their homework turned in. If they have missing work on Friday they will miss out on the celebration, so they can get their work done.

1. Parent Teacher Conferences are this week. Thanks to everyone for returning the slip last week, so I could schedule times!

1. I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday weekend! We were back today and everyone was off to a great start.
2. Reminders: The school winter carnaval is Friday night from 5:30-8:30. It sounds like is should be a great family event. Also, book orders are due next Wednesday, December 5th. If you don't turn them in by then you can always order online at ANY time:)

1. This week is a normal week and then next week will just be a two day week for the kids. They will have off Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

1. A HUGE Thank You to all of the parents who volunteered and helped plan the Halloween Party. The kids had a blast!

3. Last week the kids started learning cursive and this week we will be starting our first Multiplication chapter in Math! The kids are super excited for both of these 3rd grade topics:)

1. Students who have met their reading goal for October will recieve their Book It Certificate for a free Pizza Hut personal pan pizza. I will hand these out at the end of this week.
2. Wednesday is Halloween. The kids can wear their costumes to school on this day. In the morning there will be some sort of parade around the school and in the afternoon we will have a class Halloween party!

The ARROW form is for 4-6th grade (some of the students read at higher than a 3rd grade level, so I thought I'd send home that form, as well.) The LUCKY form has 2-3rd grade books. 1. I wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to all of the parents who have been coming in to our class and volunteering. It is a great benefit for both myself and the students to have you there!
2. Be sure to continue to sign the number of minutes your child is reading each day on the calendar in their homework folder. I will use that to count the number of minutes the kids read during each month in order to see if they met their goals for Book It.
